Carly Rae Jepsen was third runner up at Canadian Idol in 2007. I listened to a bunch of her music and she could use better lyrics – ok understatement of the year, she needs better lyrics. But last week she uploaded a hysterical video of her friends Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and more dancing around to her single “Call Me Maybe.” With lyrics like, “Hey boy I just met you, and this is crazy, so here’s my number and call me maybe.” How could you not like this song?! You know we have all felt this way and bringing in some pop beats, we gotta give it to the “Call Me Maybe” crew. I see this being a summer 2012 hit and I know this video will make your Monday!
Another really fun song that makes me want to get up and dance around, is
“Make it Rain” by Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds featuring Maino. This nine-piece group infuses Arleigh Kincheloe’s (Sister Sparrow) strong female vocals with a pop-bluesy-rock sound. Her brother, Jackson Kincheloe is the band leader and you can find him rocking out on the harmonica. I find myself pretending I can belt and rap as I listen to this song. This band is definitely one to keep a lookout for on the festival circuit.
