The question I always get: How long have you been vegetarian?
My answer: My whole life. I ate fish when I was younger, but had an experience with having a fish head served to me at a restaurant, and that ended that for good.
My mother grew up as a dedicated meat eater. She loved cooking brisket, chicken cutlets, and turkey. But that all went out the window when she became pregnant with my older sister. She couldn’t stand the smell of meat. She got pregnant with me nine months later, and still couldn’t stand the smell. My earth-loving father was already a vegetarian, so the transition just made sense. My mother’s meat-eating days, resulted in her cooking tofu the same way she cooked meat – if chicken taste good battered with bbq sauce, so can tofu. Luckily, she has passed that onto me. I’m always looking for new recipes and concoctions. So please share your favs as well!
